Vancouver Island Work- Biographical Note 3

from Harling Point, Vancouver Island- the text in this drawing reads as follows:

On the last day there was only listening
there were marks for following
between the graveyard and the sea
Death at her back
saltwater at her face
she followed.

In a birth canal to the water
she lay- open-mouthed
between pubic stones-bones

the rest- revealing line
found form to follow
stone and hollow
a womb- waiting to be drawn

near her life-side, sea-side
mouth- lay the needle-empty

at her back, below the graves
next morning- lay the safe-full

artifacts-like her
signs- in context
signs- of context

-uterine- she lies revealed
between the cradle and the grave
